Day 38. Ceduna to Nundroo

Heading West

I awoke this morning feeling a little average, I think the 5’o’clock drinks I had yesterday with the grey nomads may have hit me for a six. My new friends Brian and Doreen make their own home brew, and I tried their cappuccino mix. It went down a little too well, and this morning it seems I have a slight hangover (the first of the trip I might say).

After some goodbyes to our new friends, we went into town to see a man about a satellite TV dish. With some serious discussions we decided to get one. This would take some time to organise, so we headed to the local park for some lunch. The salesman then popped down to show Shane how to set the system up with our van.

So finally hitting the road after lunch, we started our journey across to the west. Scarlett had a decent sleep so we drove about 2.5 hours and stopped at a free camp called Kidnippy Rest Area, 19km’s west of Nundroo. This camp is huge, and we are the only people here. It’s pretty remote, and the internet signal and phone signal is very faint.

Scarlett and I went exploring while Shane tried set up his new toy. We found a tomato bush that someone had planted, obviously to get rid of before crossing the border. I’m sure they don’t get much rain out here, but the thing is doing great. There were two ripe ones ready for the picking; we have some tomatoes to get rid of ourselves so I left them there for someone else to score. Scarlett was being silly pretending to be riding in a car, the door was someone's fire break.

We had chicken rissoles and veg for dinner, and Shane is cutting up some watermelon for dessert. We also need to get through all our fresh fruit and veg ready for our border crossing in two days. A lovely relaxing evening with Scarlett and I watching Jurassic Park, she just loves dinosaurs. I will try and post again tomorrow night, but internet may not be available. We will have to wait and see…
