Day 278. Rockhampton to Gladstone

We will remember them... Lest we forget.....

This morning one of Shane's old work mates (who has since left the Air Force for greener pastures); 'Keegan Ricks' brought his new fiance 'Chonoea' and baby boy 'River' over for breakfast. We had hoped to catch up with each other back in Townsville - where they live, but they were on holiday in Sydney at the time. Today we were both passing though Rockhampton, so we took the opportunity to finally catch up. It was so good to see Keegan again! It has been so long since we last met, and it was great to meet his lovely fiance 'Chonoea', and their beautiful baby boy 'River'. We sat outside under the awning and enjoyed bacon and eggs; and filled each other in on everything that has been going on over the last few years. Thanks guys for taking the time to catch up, it was awesome to see you again.

River, Keegan and Shane

I'm off to school! See ya!
After breakfast it was a quick pack up, and we were off again. There was a quick detour at the 'Bullzye factory outlet', so Shane could get some new clothes; and Scarlett picked up a new backpack and pencil case for school next year at the same time. She hasn't taken it off since, and pretends she is off to school doing laps around the caravan park wearing it. She is so funny sometimes....

We made it to Gladstone in about an hour and a half, and after a quick set up, we enjoyed a great lunch together. Next came a massive craft session, followed by a trip down to the shops for the weekly food run. Other than that, it was pretty much a relaxing afternoon spent watching a movie, and taking it easy.

Tomorrow we will be visiting some of Shane's old school mates that live here in Gladstone, which he hasn't seen for over 20 years... Pretty exciting, but I think he's a little nervous as well!

Today is Remembrance Day, and I would like to say a huge thank you to all the men (including my wonderful husband Shane) and women who serve our Defence Force, both past and present; for the sacrifices you have all made for our country. Also a big thank you to the families and friends; without who's support you would not be able to cope with the things you see and experience when you return to us.

Thank you xx
Lest We Forget.....
